The TCPALM's Editorial Board graded Martin County's municipal governments giving
"Martin County Commission: F
Since Martin County's image is closely tied to its efforts to limit growth, and the commission seems intent on undoing decades of progress made in managing growth, no other grade feels right here.
A reasonable person could say the commission's decision in 2022 to create a new "rural lifestyle" land use that allows more intensive development in agricultural areas was an aberration, or maybe an experiment in creating transitional zoning along the fringes of urban and rural areas. But then the commission came back last year and granted, at the request of one developer, an exception that allows more intensive developments more than a mile outside the urban services area."
